Vibrating Microtomes & Brain Sectioning Tools

Bring greater speed, precision, and consistency to your experiments using brain slices (both fixed and live) with instruments that combine innovative design and engineering, space-saving ergonomics, and state-of-the-art automation.

Compresstome® Vibrating Microtomes

Unlike traditional vibratomes, the Compresstome uses a vertical, oscillating blade to cut tissue embedded in agarose (for stability). The result yields ultra-smooth and consistent tissue slices devoid of chattermarks, every time. Our vibratome created healthy acute brain slices for patch-clamp electrophysiology.

Precisionary Rotary Microtomes

Rotary microtomes allow researchers to cut thin sections of tissue, down to less than 1µm. Precisionary designs rotary microtomes ideal for quick and easy high-throughput tissue sectioning and for cutting harder materials like tissue embedded in paraffin-wax, polymers or resins. Every rotary microtome model from Precisionary is easy to operate and clean up making tissue prep a breeze.

RF 1000

With enhanced drying capability, efficient compressor, and rapid Peltier cooling, it ensures precise tissue sectioning for various samples. Its steady blade holder and flexible scheduling options further streamline laboratory operations. Experience seamless tissue sectioning with the CF-6100 Cryostat.

“The main advantages of this machine are the rapid speed of slicing and the manual stabilization afforded by the agarose embedding. I am able to prepare uniform slices in both the coronal and horizontal planes, and I routinely complete transcardial perfusion, brain removal, and slicing all within less than 10 minutes, which is half the time needed with the Leica vibratome.”
